As we reflect on our Pride Month celebrations, we stand proud and reaffirm our commitment to fostering a diverse, inclusive, and supportive environment for all employees, welcoming their sexual orientation, gender identity, and gender expression. At New Relic, we recognize that embracing diversity and its intersections is not just a moral imperative, but also a vital driver of innovation, creativity, and success. We’re taking time to reflect on the many ways in which the LGBTQIA+ community is strong, the numerous reasons for which to be proud, and the ways we ensure LGBTQIA+ people can continue to thrive. 

This year, we celebrated Pride Month by embracing the theme of "Strong. Proud. Thriving."  

Strengthening our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I)

New Relic understands that true progress stems from a deep-rooted commitment to diversity and inclusion. We recognize the unique challenges faced by the LGBTQIA+ community all around the world. Our commitment to fostering diversity extends beyond mere words or policies; it is ingrained in our company culture and embraced by all levels of leadership. 

To show our efforts in strengthening our commitment to DE&I, we shared weekly ‘allyship actions’ that Relics around the world can take to demonstrate their allyship in day-to-day actions. Each Relic has a role to play in our DE&I journey and strong allyship is a critical component of our strategy. 

Pride in being proud

Pride is not just a celebration; it is a statement of empowerment. It is about fostering a sense of pride in one's identity, recognizing the immense courage it takes to be true to oneself, and standing up against discrimination. We encourage all Relics to show up to work authentically everyday and our LGBTQIA+ employees are no exception. 

Outside of work we recognize inequalities in society exist, and need advocacy for change. That’s why our Rainbow Relics employee resource group, now in its 7th year, partnered with OutFront Minnesota to lead a training on advocacy basics. This training educated Relics on how to engage with elected officials in the US and help build confidence in the process of legislation advocacy. It’s this type of action that helps empower LGBTQIA+ people and allies to double down on efforts to ensure that anyone can be proud of being their true, authentic selves. 

Thriving together

Not every community where our Relics live is hospitable to LGBTQIA+ people. It’s important for each of us to take action in our communities to make the world a better place. To that end, we’ve encouraged Relics to support LGBTQIA+ businesses in their communities and engage in volunteerism and giving opportunities that support LGBTQIA+ people in their communities. An example of this is our event with Queer Lifespace where we volunteered by writing letters to  support their development and fundraising initiatives. 

We are proud to foster an inclusive culture where diversity thrives, and where everyone can be their authentic selves. By standing strong, being proud, and thriving together, we continue to make a positive impact on the lives of Relics and the communities they live in around the world.
